ROCKHAMPTON'S Malouf Pharmacy is using "the best software research in the world" giving Rockhampton customers cutting edge technology.

One of the first pharmacies in Rockhampton to launch the free medAdvisor smart phone free app recently, pharmacist Mikael Francis has seen it benefit customers in a huge way.

"We've had a really good response so far, and we've had people of all ages use it and tell us how helpful it's been," Mikael said. "I think it'll help build solid relationships with customers too."

Also a web-based application, Mikael said the program had generated much excitement in-store with the pharmacy wanting to stay updated with the latest technology.

It offered a huge amount of information as well as the ability to fill a script and have it ready to pick up at a time that suits them.

"It's the best software research in the world with product information and will assist people to take their medicines safely, effectively and on time," he said.

"Approximately 50% of people don't take their medications as their doctor prescribed. This can lead to missed or even extra doses of medicines which can result in higher risk of trips and falls around the house, hospitalisation due to adverse effects or even death."
