SHE'S 100 years young, but Arlie Robson said she doesn't feel it.

And if you are wondering how she made it to triple figures the answer might surprise you: bananas.

Born in Lismore, she was raised around Mt Burrell, among the banana plantations and developed a love of eating bananas at a young age.

"I have a banana sandwich every day," she said.

Mrs Robson still has her wedding veil from 1936, when she married her "good Englishman."

His name was John, but he was nicknamed "Jock" and he was a headmaster at Uki for 27 years.

Sadly, he died one year before their 60th wedding anniversary.

And I'm backing Queensland in the State Origin...And I'll stick with the Cowboys till I go.

So the massive veil has special significance for Mrs Robson.

She may not be as spritely on her feet, but she still barracks for the Broncos and the Cowboys, despite being a NSW girl.

"And I'm backing Queensland in the State of Origin," she said.

"And I'll stick with the Cowboys till I go."

She has outlived nearly everyone in her wedding party, including the bridesmaids.

"I managed to kill off all the men," she laughed.

Mrs Robson will celebrate her 100th birthday this coming Saturday at home, when she'll show off her letter from the Queen.

"She's invited all her friends that haven't fallen off their perches yet," her son Lloyd Robson said.
