PETER and Bev Hamilton have just spent eight weeks on the road after buying a caravan.

The Zilzie couple picked up their holiday home on wheels at last year's Rockhampton Home Show and Caravan, Camping, 4x4 and Fishing Expo.

They're back at the expo this year to have another look around.

"The expo is a great idea and it's growing in the region," Peter said.

"Today we bought solar panels to keep our battery topped up in the caravan."

The pair recently used their caravan for a holiday through New South Wales and Central Queensland.

Peter, 68 and Bev, 69 said they bought their caravan to take small trips around the country, they won't be doing the usual grey nomad venture around Australia in one hit - Bev said they already tackled that trip in the 90s.

The expo has plenty to offer for those who love the outdoors, with everything from caravans to fishing items and camping equipment.

The expo is on today and tomorrow at the Rockhampton Showgrounds.

THE EXPO

When: Today (9am-5pm) and tomorrow (9am-4pm)
