Council re-opens Emerald bridge

EMERALD residents are advised that the Central Highlands Regional Council re-opened the John Gay Bridge at 2pm today.

The bridge was closed due to a large section going under water following the recent heavy rains.

A nine tonne vehicle limit will apply on the bridge, a council spokeswoman said.

She said should the pavement fail council would close the road next week for repairs, which would be done out of peak traffic times.

"Thank you for your patience and please continue to drive carefully," the spokeswoman said.
