CQ islands leave pair spellbound
AS April and Gary Davey kayaked their way through waters off the Capricorn Coast, they were blown away by its beauty.
The Brisbane couple are keen kayakers who have fallen in love with Central Queensland.
Gary said they'd been to Central Queensland before on kayaking trips with friends and said their experience of the islands was magnificent.
This time around, April and Gary kayaked from Rosslyn Bay to Humpy Island and then from there to North Keppel Island over five days last week.
"The scenery, the cliff faces and walks on the island were great and the facilities on the islands were so well maintained," Gary said.
"We had Humpy Island all to ourselves and we couldn't believe it, it was like heaven, I was so surprised that there weren't more people there."
The couple who are members of the Queensland Sea Kayak Club in Brisbane found their taste for adventure and getting out on the open sea after their children grew up.
"We started doing it for a bit of fitness, then joined the club, and we do it most weekends now.
"And what's good about the Keppel Island's is you can hop from one island to the other and they're not far from the mainland."
