Emu Park firies to battle it out
THE Emu Park Fire and Rescue station will battle it out against 18 teams at the State Firefighter Championships to be held at Hervey Bay this weekend.
The competition incorporates firefighting drills, incident command practices, the use of modern urban/rural equipment and appliances, as well as promotes teamwork between competing fire station and rural fire brigade teams.
Emu Park is the only station from the Central region competing.
Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) Commissioner Lee Johnson said firefighters will showcase the teamwork and dedication they demonstrate every day in their responses to a wide range of emergency incidents.
"Competitions such as the State Firefighter Championship provide a highly competitive and realistic environment for the ongoing development and maintenance of core frontline firefighting skills of our volunteer, auxiliary and permanent firefighters," Mr Johnson said.
The competition begins on Thursday and finishes Saturday.
