Fire damages family home
THE inside of a Kawana family home was damaged extensively yesterday after a fire broke out in the early hours of the morning.
Fire and ambulance crews were called to the Pillich St residence just before 5am.
A spokeswoman for Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) believed the occupants of the house were home at the time of the fire, but there were no injuries.
The occupants were unable to be contacted yesterday.
The QFRS spokeswoman said it took 10 minutes for crews to extinguish the blaze, which damaged three rooms.
Fire investigators were yesterday at the scene of the incident trying to determine the cause of the fire.
The incident was the second house fire in Rockhampton in just two weeks, following a blaze at a residence on Sunner St in Koongal on April 5.
Occupant of the Sunner St residence, Angela Wise, who was sent to hospital with smoke inhalation, said the home was now unliveable and new premises had been found for her and her partner. The cause of the Sunner St incident was still unknown.
