Golf club attack near hotel
A FEW harsh words between two men led to one being taken to hospital, handcuffed.
Witnesses to a violent fight in Archer St, near Murray Lane and metres from the Brunswick Hotel, yesterday afternoon said the two men had harsh words before the fight started, of which it is alleged a wedged golf club was used.
Rockhampton district duty officer Senior Sergeant Michael Langsdorf said the two men were known to each other.
"Somehow, they ended up in a physical altercation," he said.
"There was an allegation of a golf club being used."
The man taken to hospital suffered an injury to one arm.
The other man was taken to Rockhampton police station for further questioning, while a police officer went to Rockhampton Hospital to talk to the injured man.
It was unknown at time of print if any charges had been laid, but it was believed investigations were continuing.
One witness said there was a woman from a black car assaulting a man, while another witness only saw two men wrestle to the ground, fighting.
They said the men were trying to choke each other; head butt each other and were punching each other.
A witness said the golf club was used in an attempt to smash the windscreen of a white ute one of the men was travelling in.
