ROCKHAMPTON'S iconic Heritage Hotel has sold at auction this morning; for $1.4 million.

The auction, which took place in Brisbane at 10.30am, drew in a number of bidders.

Agent Leon Alaban of Ray White Hotels Australia said the building was "competitively sought after."

"At this stage we are unsure what the intentions are of the buyer," he said.

"Buy hopefully it is one of those ones where they can incorporate its former glory into how the building was previously operated."
