It's one shell of a show
THE Keppel Bay Shell Club was formed in 1962 and is celebrating its 50th anniversary at the 45th Shell Show at the Yeppoon Show Grounds this weekend.The event will be held July 7 from 8am to 4.30pm on Saturday and on Sunday from 9.30am to 3.30pm Shell club spokesperson Ena Coucom said the exhibition would be bigger and better with new sections included.New displays include 50 Keppel Bay shells of mixed families, 50 shells of 50mm and under, mixed families world wide displayed on a gold/yellow background and a collage of up to seven photos depicting Golden Moments of Keppel Bay Shell Club.Postage stamps depicting shells with the accompanying shell on display is another new section that is sure to please.The collection will include an amazing range of shells ranging in size of 6mm to 600mm. on public display.The Kida Club displays also have a 50th birthday theme.One of the highlights of the event will be the coveted American Conchologist Award which will be awarded to a first prize exhibit and which would best further the interest in shells and shell collecting. Overseas, interstate and Queensland shell dealers will have stalls of exciting shells on display.In addition to some impressive shell displays, The weekend also will offer multiple stalls with craft and cooking, pottery and jewellery that will add to the attractions at the Shell Show.A 50th birthday dinner will be enjoyed by members on Saturday night.
