Hit the ground running
WITH just one week to go, members of the Rotary Club of Rockhampton are encouraging everyone to dust off their joggers and put their best foot forward at the Stanwell Power Station Rocky River Run this Sunday.
Not only will the day be jampacked with fun, it is also an opportunity for the community to get physical.
Rockhampton Weight Watchers manager Barb Smith said her company was encouraging all of its members to participate.
"The Rocky River Run, in having such a range of levels of activities from a 2km and 5km walk to 5km and 10km runs and the half marathon, means all our members can participate at a level that is best for them," she said
"At our meetings this week we have encouraged the members to get together and run or walk as a team as part of their overall health improvement and weight reduction program."
The run will start at Sir Raymond Huish Drive on the river behind the Victoria Park tennis and basketball facilities, beside the South Rockhampton swimming pool.
The half marathon will kick off the day at 6.30am followed by the 10km run at 7.30am and all other events at 8am.
Registrations can be made online at rockyriverrun.com until 5pm on Friday.
Entrants who do not wish to be timed may manually register for any events on Saturday between noon and 5pm or on Sunday at least 30 minutes before your event at the registration tent at Huish Drive Park.
A cloak room will be operating, and several food and drink stalls.
