Kayaker sucked under weir

BREAKING: Police suspended the search of Selma Weir, near Emerald, late yesterday after a man kayaking fell into the water and disappeared in the morning.

Preliminary information suggests that two local men were kayaking when they were sucked under water near the weir.

One of the men managed to swim to safety, the second man, a 30-year-old, was still missing last night.

The police ground, water and air search will recommence at first light today.
