KIRSTEN Livermore yesterday spent her last day at Member for Capricornia as the seven candidates for the seat ramped up their campaigns.

It was only fitting that the man who helped her set up on her first day 15 years ago, Ms Livermore's key advisor Barry Large, helped her pack up on her last.

The office will still be open and Mr Large must carry on until all the votes from the September 7 poll are counted.

But today Ms Livermore is no longer an MP; simply a mother with grand plans for her family's future.

She and her husband and two children will travel to the UK after the election to spend a year in London.

Having gone into parliament as a 27-year-old, Ms Livermore is keen to turn back time.

She will study a masters in development management at the London School of Economics.

"It sounds very interesting, but it could just be a gap year," Ms Livermore said. "It's kind of going back and being 27 again. I sort of just want to get that out of my system. And it's just a chance to connect with the family."

Her children, aged 10 and seven, will go to school in the UK, while her husband plans to complete his thesis.

Ms Livermore said she would not be a political commentator when she returns to Rockhampton.

But, she did say she believed Labor's Capricornia candidate Peter Freeleagus was the man for the job, and the party deserved to remain in power.

"In terms of being able to make a difference ... we've got the track record," Ms Livermore said.

Despite her continued loyalty to good friend Julia Gillard, Ms Livermore said voters were responding well since Prime Minister Kevin Rudd ousted Ms Gillard.
