LNP's mixed message on health cuts
HEALTH Minister Lawrence Springborg has rubbished claims the Queensland government will scrap a program used to detect breast cancers in women.
The Sunday Mail reports the Breastscreen Queensland program will be dismantled as part of the government's cost-cutting measures.
But in a statement on Sunday, Mr Springborg said there will be no change to Breastscreen Queensland's operations or reduced access to services.
He also released a Cancer Council Queensland (CCQ) statement, which he said the newspaper had not run in the article.
"We have received a personal reassurance from Health Minister Lawrence Springborg that centralised oversight of system-wide strategic planning, clinical leadership and governance will be maintained to ensure quality management and safety of cancer screening programs," the statement read.
