A MAN has been killed by a falling tree on a property north-west of Rolleston.

It is believed the man was cutting fence posts on the Starlee property yesterday when the accident occurred.

"A tree came down, got tangled up in some other trees and whacked him on the head - killed him instantly," a local source said.

Emergency services attended the scene. The identity of the deceased was not known.
