THE 21-year-old man who was arrested for allegedly threatening President Barack Obama during the G20 appeared briefly in court yesterday.

Jacob Nicholas was charged with using a carrier service to menace or harass after he allegedly made a joke threatening to bomb the president of the United States.

Outside court, Nicholas's solicitor Doug Winning told TV reporters the comments made on social media were meant as a joke.

His case was adjourned until December 18.
