Paul Gallen not legendary enough yet for immortalisation

NSW Captain Paul Gallen

MANY questioned if a Facebook post was a belated April Fools Day joke yesterday.

APN ran a post on a number of daily newspaper Facebook pages asking what people thought of a suggestion by a Blues supporter that its captain, Paul Gallen, be immortalised.

There was an expected mixed reaction, with most Queensland supporters anti the suggestion.

What was unexpected with the New South Wales supporters who agreed with the Queenslanders that Gallen was not yet worthy of such a prestigious accolade.

What do you think?

Here are some of the responses across different sites:

The Chronicle - Toowoomba

Brendan Low - I think he has a very looooong way to go before a claim like that can be made.

MattandKatie Spreadborough Andrews - Gallen isn't in that league; I know quite a few NSW supporters who agree with that as well. Not all Queenslanders are cocky over a few wins, NSW have in the past won 19 games in a row so really QLD have nothing to be cocky about. I actually think the NSW this year are quite strong and will be hard to beat, as for Gallen - no one can really deny the fact that he isn't in the same league as Wally & Mal.

Ross Hills - it should go to Cam Smith before him

Daily Mercury - Mackay

Joe Winkler - I'm not saying he should be immortalised but he is one of the hardest men to have played the game? And if you ask anyone who has a dream team I'll bet he is in there team.

Tanya Lorraine Querro - Yep, although he is a NSW Player. Also need to ask is Gorden Tallis in the immortals.

Marie Fowler -We are not that desperate for legends, sure we have nicer and better sports playing League
Sunshine coast daily

Greg Jo Mcgrath - To many haters in the world......Paul Gallen has achieved more than most haters commenting on this page. He gets paid loads to do what he loves, he captains his NRL side, his states side and vice captains his countries side(yes Australia) Not to mention a heavy weight boxer as well. In my opinion there are a lot more players I enjoy watching more like Brent tate, Greg Inglis, SBW to mention a few. But Gallen has achieved so much in his career and I take my hat off to him.

Sally Smith - A bad sport, dirty player and a poor role model! Need I say more!!

Benjamin Williams - No chance. Hasn't won an origin series as Captain. Until last Wednesday you could count his origin wins on one hand. Joined origin in 2006 when they starting they're losing streak. No premierships.

Paula Brandon - Looks like it's settled then! Gallen is a grub and should not be included. And I agree with a previous comment Andrew Johns was a drug user his whole career. Placing him in the immortals made a mockery of the whole concept. An insult to those true leaders in this sport. What a great example for our children, I think NOT! Shame, shame shame!

The Morning Bulletin - Rockhampton

Clancy Thomas - Do not agree at all. There is way better players then gallen

Squire Trevor Hilcher - Galen ? Seriously ? What about another N S W legend and Australian Legend ? Peter Sterling , he should be there long long before Galen !

Jack Beynon - I think in time he should be but not now

Trixie Dee - You're joking right. He's not even in the same league as these players. Must be hard up for legends if they think he's one. Made my night..needed a good laugh.

News mail - Bundaberg

Glen Wrigley - Gallen immortalised.....Hahahaha funniest joke of the decade!

Jessicaelizabeth Anderson - Hey let's immortalise Ennis as well!
Ahh no, no way. That's the most idiotic call I've ever heard! Paul gallon is not worthy of such a prestigious title. Pfftt.

Jo Peppercorn - I am a blue supporter but in no way should gallon be given that title. What has he done for the game? I can't Stand the guy. He doesn't deserve it. Someone like Lockyer is a better person and player.

Nathan Adamski - Gallen should be immortalised when I see pigs flying around my house!

Denise Morrison - No way. I had been a sharks supporter since the 70's but after hearing all the crap coming out of gallens mouth this year I can't even bring myself to watch a sharkies game
