ENCOURAGING the kids to get out in the garden, and away from the television, can be a fun and cheap school holiday activity.

And it does more than just keep them occupied.

Gardening can improve heart health, reduce stress levels, increase hand strength and will boost children's self esteem as they watch their hard work pay off and grow up.

And now is the time to get soiled, with The Morning Bulletin's Free Seeds Giveaway back for a third year!

This spring's fruit, vegie and herb seeds celebrate the flavours of the Mediterranean and the Americas and you can collect a different packet every day for two weeks.

This spring, collect all of the 18 free seed packets and you can sit back and watch you (and your kid's) garden grow.
