Reality check pushes Angela to change life and get healthy

Overweight, she couldn't fit on one of the theme park's rides.

Angela's always struggled with her weight; in Year 8 she weighed 100kg.

"It's just horrific; no kid should have to go through that, it was so embarrassing," she said yesterday.

Now she's flying high after losing 47.5kg.

No wonder she's pictured with a cape on and a big smile. But the stock controller at Chemist Warehouse said she decided to change her life for the better after the trip.

"I just thought, 'what have you done to yourself?'," she said.

"So I decided I'd try to lose 25 kilos by my 25th birthday and I lost 24 kilos, but by the end of 2012 I had put it all back on."

Angela has now dropped from 140kg down to 90.8kg, and said it was through Goodlife Health Club that she found a new lease on life and more confidence.

On Saturday, Goodlife Health Clubs will be hosting their annual 12 Week Challenge Awards Ceremony, where among Australia's fittest will battle it out for the Rockhampton title of the most impressive transformation.

"It's honestly really changed my personality and I've made so many friends at the gym and through the challenge," Angela said.

"If it wasn't for my personal trainer Stephanie I wouldn't have been able to do it. I'm planning to do the Fitter Faster Stronger challenge eventually as well."

Angela participated in Relay for Life on the weekend and will also do the Rocky River Run on Sunday.
