Rocky to host major art conference
ROCKHAMPTON will host a major conference in 2013 focused on exploring innovation in regional arts.
Arts Minister Ros Bates made the announcement saying Rockhampton Regional Council was a natural fit to partner the Newman Government in hosting the biennial regional arts and culture conference.
"Rockhampton is on the national radar as a regional arts hub to watch," Ms Bates said.
"Last year the city was selected as one of two locations in Australia to take part in the Cultural Places initiative, a landmark three-year national pilot to show how arts and culture can make a positive difference to regional communities".
Ms Bates said the Conference would be held from 19-21 August, 2013. Its focus would be to explore innovation in regional arts and more than 200 people from the arts and cultural sector are expected to attend.
