Street fight puts teen in hospital
A TEENAGER involved in a violent street fight in Wandal on Saturday was yesterday in a critical condition after suffering serious head injuries.
The all-in brawl involving a small group of people armed with random items picked up off the ground, including spades, occurred on Woodville St about 9am.
Police are appealing for information from witnesses.
The fight occurred near a garage sale and was within view of the neighbourhood Choice petrol station.
The clash was also around the corner from the Wandal shops.
"Members of the community would have seen this," a police spokeswoman said.
"We need you to come forward."
Police said it was not clear what had caused the streetside brawl.
A resident who lives a street away from where the incident occurred said they did not see the fight.
However, when they walked past after emergency services arrived, they saw the 19-year-old victim still lying on the ground.
Another resident said they could hear yelling from that area about 9am and when they drove past about 10am two police cars had blocked the street off.
