Seventh for local on Arcadia
YEPPOON skipper Tim McCall might not have nabbed a place in the Brisbane to Keppel yacht race, but that technicality didn't change his excitement for his favourite competition of the year.Tim's yacht Arcadia came in seventh after a very long trip with very little wind.Tim said Arcadia had a good start to the race, holding third place overall, and in the handicap, until he was about 20 nautical miles past Cape Capricorn when the wind dropped off and there was nothing to do but enjoy the fantastic weather and marvel at the whales and dolphins."Naturally, we are a little disappointed but that is the way nature is and that is what makes this race so exciting and different each year," Tim said."A lot of yachts pulled out due to the calm conditions so we are very happy to have been able to hang in there and finish."All in all it was a great trip. We saw a huge amount of whales this year, just out from Fraser Island, which is always fabulous and, of course, the weather was amazing."He said he could not wait to do it all again in next year's Brisbane to Keppel.Tim said he can't wait for next years Brisbane to Keppel so he and his crew can do it all again.
