Sexting accused stays in custody while evidence sought

A GLENMORE father has been refused bail after the Rockhampton Magistrates Court heard he was sending sexual text messages to a 14-year-old.

Kerry George Green appeared on Monday on five charges of breaching reporting conditions.

The court heard he told the girl, via text message, that he had been looking at her photos on Facebook.

His phone was seized and his Facebook account was searched, but the court heard most of the content had already been deleted and couldn't be recovered.

One text message remained on the complainant's phone, but so far police had not been able to get a copy of it.

The case had been adjourned on December 19 to allow the police time to get more evidence.

Magistrate Cameron Press raised concerns that if he were kept in custody he could end up serving time waiting for his hearing that would be longer than what he would serve if convicted.

But his extensive criminal history of failing to comply with orders led to his being considered too great a risk.

Green will reappear on January 22.
