IT has been suggested that Rockhampton-born tennis legend Rod Laver should be knighted.

The Brisbane Times has reported his former doubles partner Jim Shepherd has made the suggestion in honour of Laver's service to tennis.

Brisbane will honour Laver next week when the footbridge from Yeerongpilly station to the Queensland Tennis Centre is named the Rod Laver Footbridge. Read more here: Rod Laver should be knighted

TRUE FRIENDS: Rockhampton Hospital nurses who graduated training in 1970 celebrated their 50 years since starting training in 1965/66 in Yeppoon on the weekend.
