Spotlight's on Vicki's $20k smile
THEY say a smile is worth a thousand words, but in Vicki Benson's case it's worth $20,000.
The Rockhampton woman took out first prize in a national Spotlight competition, receiving her winnings in a presentation at the store yesterday.
Vicki, who has been a VIP member of Spotlight since 2003, said the news was overwhelming.
"I'm still in a bit of a daze," she said.
"When they rang to tell me I thought it was a crazy call.
"I didn't even know I was in (the competition)."
Any VIP member who spent over $25 in store and used their membership card was automatically placed in the draw.
Rockhampton Spotlight manager Cathy Toyer said it was the first time a member of the Yaamba Rd store had won the major cash prize.
"All of the team were very excited," Cathy said.
"We've only given away three major prizes in the 10 years I've been here."
Vicki said she was always shopping in the store.
"I have two daughters that did dancing so we were always in here," she said.
Asked what she was going to spend the money on, the generous mother said she would share it with her family.
"I'm going to buy them all something special," she said.
