SES help with missing man search
STATE Emergency Service volunteers searched through thick scrub, at times on their hands on knees, to help police in their investigation for missing man Timothy Pullen.
Mackay SES controller Justin Englert said about 24 volunteers searched the grassland for several hours on Saturday.
"Police notified us that they would require our assistance, for their own investigation... they didn't tell us what we would be looking for until Saturday morning," Mr Englert said.
SES volunteers are trained in land search, forensic search and crime-scene protection.
"In thick scrub we do bunched line searches... its shoulder-to-shoulder and hands-and-knees searching, depending on how thick the scrub is" he said.
Mr Englert said SES services had been able to give police a 99.9% accuracy rating of a particular area.
"If there was something there to find, we would have found it," he said.
