Man tells police to take him to the watch house

ROCKHAMPTON'S Aron John Shorter kept telling police to take him to the watch house, so that's exactly what they did.

About 2am on December 3, the father-of-one was asked to leave the safe night out precinct by police after they were called to a disturbance at Flamingo's nightclub.

The Rockhampton Magistrate court heard last month the 31-year-old failed to comply with police orders and was later found in another area of the precinct.

Prosecutor Clancy Fox said Shorter was warned by police to leave the precinct and go home.

"He was directed to leave the area and he failed to comply with the direction," Mr Fox said.

"Police gave him several chances to leave but he kept saying 'take me to the watch house, it's where I need to go'."

Shorter was charged with one count of contravening a police direction and was fined $500.

A conviction was recorded.
