A TAXI driver's driving history was described as 'deplorable' by a Magistrate after he failed to keep his eyes on the road.
Deepak Sharma, 29, pleaded guilty in Rockhampton Magistrates Court yesterday to failing to drive with due care.
The court heard in August this year police attended a crash at the intersection of Dean St and Elphinstone St.
The car belonging to Sharma, was on its side and a second car had front damage.
Sharma told police he was reaching down for his eftpos machine which had fallen on the ground and thought he could make it through the amber light.
When he looked up he was struck by another car on his right side.
No one was injured.
Sharma was fined $1000 with a conviction recorded.
