ONLY weeks separate The Short Fall from locking in studio time with renowned producer and sound engineer Anthony Lycenko.
Lycenko came to Yeppoon's Cre-8-Studios in 2010 to record Busby Marou's highly successful self-titled debut album, and has also worked with the likes of Pete Murray, Xavier Rudd and The Beautiful Girls.
Speaking to BEAT on Wednesday, The Short Fall front man Angelo Conway revealed the band had been in talks with Lycenko and he was keen to help put together another demo with his talent to transform songs during pre-production.
Angelo on Wednesday said the band would travel to Byron Bay later in the year to record a demo of new songs highlighting a new sound, if the band is first successful in receiving a regional arts funding grant.
"We find him (Lycenko) really helpful; recording with him is one stage but in pre-production he will help us with song development," he said.
"He has a lot of experience, especially the direction we are going with our music; more acoustic rock.
"He wants to get the best out of the music."
The Short Fall members have spent the last few years working hard to establish themselves as one of the region's premier original wedding and corporate functions band, playing up to two weddings a week as well as the odd pub gig and public performances.
Angelo and brother Ryan have self-recorded the new songs which are up on the Facebook page to give people a sneak peek at the new sound.
"The style we have adopted, myself and (brother) Ryan play a lot of acoustic shows so it was a natural progression towards that," he said.
