IT'S a sight we'll be seeing soon at Anzac Day ceremonies across the region, but the lined up soldiers in today's Blast from the Past tell a different story.

The army troops pictured are from the 42nd Battalion of the Royal Queensland Regiment and are being inspected during a ceremony of some kind on Derby St, opposite City Hall.

Front and centre is commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Terry Lunny and former mayor of Rockhampton Jim Webber.

The photograph was taken in October, 1986, but no other details are known.
