BEER drinkers, welcome to paradise.

The eco-friendly and picturesque Pumpkin Island, off the Capricorn Coast, will now be known as XXXX Island to the frothing delight of Fourex Gold drinkers.

The dream of many beer connoisseurs has become a reality as the Australia beer label yesterday announced it had its own island, through a three-year lease, and planned to offer the ultimate destination for Aussie mates, with the help of celebrity ambassadors.

Owners Laureth Craggs and Wayne Rumble had to keep it a secret for a while, but yesterday excitedly said this would not only bring more people to the area, but provide additional jobs and support the local community.

Wayne said the team at XXXX Gold, and its patrons, would be excellent custodians of the island, which was last year named Australia's first carbon-positive island.

"It was fundamental that we protected the island's integrity and what we have built and established on the island over the last few years and for the future," he said.

Capricorn Enterprises chief executive Mary Carroll said the campaign was an innovative way of destination marketing and promoting our area.

XXXX Island will officially open in October and the team behind it are already asking Aussies to share their thoughts on what they want to see and do on the island.
