Ferrell confirms Anchorman sequel
IT'S official: There will be a sequel to Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.
The news was delivered from the newsreader himself, with Will Ferrell's iconic movie character showing up on Conan O'Brien's late night talk show to make the announcement.
Playing an extended flute solo, Burgundy insulted the show's host before saying he "actually has an announcement".
"I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to our friends in Spain, Turkey and the UK, including England, that as of 0900 mountain time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy have come to terms on a sequel to Anchorman.
"It's official: There will be a sequel to Anchorman. There will be a sequel."
The 2004 film about a womanising newsreader and his incompetent San Diego news team became a cult hit thanks to its oddball sense of humour, endlessly quotable dialogue and star roles from Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate.
A sequel has been rumoured for years but yesterday's announcement was the first concrete evidence.
Cast details or a release date haven't been announced.
