Woman seriously assaults officer
A WOMAN has been charged after the serious assault of a police officer in Rockhampton last night.
Police responded to reports of a woman creating a disturbance on East Street at around 3am.
A woman was arrested for public nuisance, when she began to struggle with police.
A male Constable received a head injury when the woman allegedly struck him with her shoe.
A male Senior Sergeant was punched in the face, but was uninjured.
The Constable was taken to Rockhampton Base Hospital for treatment for a large laceration that required stitches.
A 17-year-old Frenchville woman has been charged with one count each of public nuisance, obstruct police, serious assault police and assault police, and is due to appear in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on September 3.
