? DYNAMIC Rockhampton duo Matthew Deeth and Samuel Acutt compiled match-winning half-cen- turies to guide Capricornia to a powerful win over Northern at the Queensland School Sport 12 years boys' carnival at Rock- hampton's Kalka Shades yes- terday.
Deeth blasted 54 runs (74 balls), while Acutt scored a determined 52 runs (108 balls) to steer the home side past Northern's first innings total of 9/102 (50 overs).
The Frenchville Primary School middle-order batsmen guided Capricornia to 8/175 (50 overs) and record their second win of the carnival.
Earlier, Rockhampton's Ben Milne (2/25) and Mitchell Clune (2/22) and an economical Mitch- ell Inwood (2/8), of Gladstone, de- stroyed Northern's batting line- up.
Capricornia will play-off for fifth place at Kalka Shades today.
Wide Bay will take on Metro- politan North in today' final after both teams continued their unde- feated run towards the title yes- terday.
Wide Bay scored a thrilling sev- en-run win over South Coast in their top-of-the-table pool A clash.
Zac Keune (72) and Josh Neill (42) led Wide Bay to 7/176 before Hayden Thick snared three cru- cial wickets at the death to have South Coast all out for 169.
Metropolitan North also had to work hard in their 37-run win over South West.
Opener Ryan Dornan (17) proved the rock in Metropolitan North's total of 106, while Dean Bilton (16) also kept the runs tick- ing over.
In reply, a four-pronged pace at- tact had South West all out for 69.
In other games, Metropolitan West enjoyed a 42-run victory against North West, Darling Downs continued their winning ways against Metropolitan East and Sunshine Coast thrashed Peninsula.
