ALL it took was the power of five young children to save 21 turtles trapped in a drain on Monday.
They were holidaying in Emu Park when they found the turtles caught and had to help them.
Parent Brian Phelan said he was fascinated to know how they crawled up the drain.
“The kids saw them and wanted to rescue them,” he said.
“I don't know how they got there, maybe the recent storms washed them up.”
The children, Anika Phelan, Thomas Crow, Flyn Phela, Hayden Phelan and Oliver Crow, lifted the lid of the drain and helped them out one by one.
Mr Phelan, of Rockhampton, said they returned them all to the ocean and watched as they swam away.
“The kids think they might be green sea turtles,” he said.
In another interesting turn of events Thomas and Oliver's father, Graeme Phelan, was jogging along the beach and found a large turtle sunning itself.
Mr Phelan said it was very unusual to see.
