Neighbours find murdered artist

JANETTE McInerney woke to piercing screams at 3am yesterday and raced from her caravan to find a woman yelling for help in the darkness.

Following the direction of the calls, Ms McInerney ran across the road and into her neighbour's caravan only to find 35-year-old Graham Moore's bloody, lifeless body.

It's believed he died from a single stab wound.

Ms McInerney said he was dead when she found him and there was nothing she could do.

Emergency services were called to Biloela's White Cockatoo Accommodation Park and a murder investigation began immediately yesterday morning.

Mr Moore's caravan at site 37 was sectioned off with crime scene tape and forensic officers from Rockhampton scoured the area for evidence.

Late yesterday police charged a 32-year-old woman with his murder.

As soon as good friend Caroline Tannock heard of Graham's death yesterday she left work and joined Ms McInerney at the caravan park.

Ms Tannock described Mr Moore as a lovely guy and loving father to his 16-year-old son.

“He only just bought his son a car at Christmas time,” she said.

“He loved his son and did everything for him. He also loved to fish; he'd just bought a boat and was beginning to get his life together.”

Mr Moore was also an award-winning artist. He opened his first individual exhibition, Mooreart, at the Walter Reid Cultural Centre in 2006.

Mr Moore had lived alone at the White Cockatoo Accommodation Park for the last 12 months but had been a Biloela resident on and off for 45 years.

Ms Tannock said she became good friends with Mr Moore eight years ago when he lived at the Boomerang Caravan Park, where she resides.

“Every day we would see each other - he was a lovely man.”

The woman accused of his murder will appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court this morning.
