THOUSANDS of music fans like Zac Towner gathered at Rockhampton’s Music Bowl on Saturday night for Rockfest 09.
The annual event, held over Youth Week, gives local musicians the chance to perform with up-and-coming national bands and the opportunity to play in front of a big crowd.
This year saw Brisbane band Dead Letter Circus grace the stage as the headlining act, and although Zac didn’t get to see them play, he said the majority of the crowd were there to see the band, who have performed in Rockhampton twice before.
"We were too worn-out to stay for Dead Letter Circus because my friend and I were moshing to Epidemic...Over," he said yesterday.
Zac said he was impressed with the local bands, especially new Rockhampton band Devoid.
Other local bands that were selected for the gig from audition CDs included The Origin Complex, The Shortfall, The Silence and Living Life in Animation.
