Rodeo rider Katina gets behind CQ's NRL bid

SIXTEEN-year-old rodeo rider Katina Matthews certainly thinks it's achieva-bull.

From 8am today CQ's NRL bid will get a beefy injection of support with a dedicated stall set up at the Rockhampton Showgrounds.

Katina said she would sign The Bully's petition for a local NRL team today.

The Alton Downs teen yesterday told The Morning Bulletin she was in town to compete tonight and tomorrow night at Beef Week rodeos.

Katina said she was a big footy fan.

The CQ NRL bid stall is at the entrance to the Rockhampton Showgrounds.

A supporter mascot out the front reads “ACHIEVA-BULL”- an attitude the bid team is promoting.

Katina said her favourite NRL team was the North Queensland Cowboys.

But if CQ is successful she admits she will have to change to support the local team.

Yesterday Katina said she hadn't thought of a name for a local team but liked the sound of the CQ Bulls.
