Schukking's run stopped

THE winning run of Rockhampton fighter Mitch Schukking is over after crashing to defeat at Brisbane over the weekend.

Facing a talented 16-year-old fighter Jake Moulden, Schukking was unable to break the awesome defence of his young opponent.

“He's no regular 16-year-old,” trainer Ruben Fraser observed,

“Mitch was giving away height, weight and experience.”

Although just a youngster Moulden now has an impressive seven-fight, seven-win record.

“The guy's defence was awesome,” the trainer said with admiration.

“It was frustrating for Mitch as he was hunting him down.”

Unfortunately while Schukking was prepared to come forward his opponent was also ready to counter and pick off the Rockhampton fighter to add points to his total.

“This kid is going to be special,” Fraser predicted.

In the end Schukking was marked down by the judges who gave the fight to Moulden on a unanimous verdict.

Schukking was not alone as all five fighters from the Hellrazor Fight Club suffered a similar fate.

“They all fought well and learned a lot out of it,” Fraser suggested.

Kerred Lawton had a tough night against a fighter who towered over him.

“He put a few on him (blows), but he didn't have any follow-up,” Fraser said.

With just 10 seconds of the fight remaining the referee stopped it and awarded it to Lawton's opponent.

“Kerred now knows he has to go to the next level at training,” Fraser said.

The Hellrazor trainer said Jarras Vea Vea was unlucky to have his fight stopped in the first round.

“I've never seen Jarras looking so good, but then he got copped with a right and went down,” Fraser said.

“As he tried to get up he got his head caught under the rope.”

The referee viewed things differently and stopped the fight saying Vea Vea had had enough, but Fraser insists that had his fighter received the standing eight count he could have gone on.

Ash Van der Veldt was too hot for Wes Mainhardt to handle, stopping the Rocky fighter toward the end of round two.

The fight record of Joel Eliott now reads six fights and six losses after he went down to Matt Lowry on a points decision.

“He's (Eliott) better than that record, he's just fought some really good guys,” his trainer lamented.
