4WD stuck on Rocky railway bridge

A 20-YEAR-OLD man allegedly attempted to flee police after driving a 4WD vehicle onto a Rockhampton railway bridge where it became stuck on Saturday morning.

Police attended the scene around 12.30am and discovered a 4WD wedged and stuck on rail tracks,  70 metres from the southern end of the Alexander Rail Bridge.

A man allegedly fled from police and was located after a short foot pursuit in a nearby park.

Train services were halted whilst the vehicle was removed and the track re-opened around 5.30am.

The man was charged with a rail transport infrastructure offence (driving vehicle on a bridge) and obstructing police.

No one was injured during this incident and police investigations are continuing.
