Ho, ho, ho on a hog

IF you are driving between Rockhampton, Yeppoon and Emu Park today you might spot something a little odd.

But Rockhampton’s Noel Guley says it’s all for the kids.

Hundreds of Harley-Davidson and other motorcycles will be covered in tinsel and toys, and you may see some riders dressed as Santa, as they take part in the Rockhampton Motorcycle Toy Run.

The event is in aid of The Salvation Army Rockhampton and Yeppoon with all motorcyclists invited to bring non-perishables, toys, gift vouchers or money to be donated.

There will also be prizes for Best Dressed and Best Decorated bike.

Noel and other members of the Harley Owners Group, who this year organised the event, are encouraging anyone who owns a motorcycle to join in and help give children in need a Christmas to remember.

While Noel said he might not go to the extent of decorating his bike, he and his wife love to support kids.

“I encourage anyone who owns a motorcycle to support the Salvos and the kids; it doesn’t matter what type of bike it is,” he said.

Manager of the Rockhampton community welfare community centre Ian Jones said a couple of hundred families in the Capricorn region needed help this Christmas.

“It’s the hardest time for families and it’s not easy to ask for help.”

Assemble at the PCYC at 11.30am for a 12pm start.
