WITH the climate creating dryer conditions once more in south-east Queensland, the threat of bushfires this season is very real.
THE Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has forecast severe grassland and forest fire danger for the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district.
Temperatures of up to 41 degrees with relative humidity down to 10 per cent are forecasted for the region.
A Department of Community Safety (DCS) spokesman also said they were expecting 30km/h northwest to northerly winds.
The dangerous fire conditions has prolonged fire bans in Toowoomba, Southern Downs, Western Downs and Goondiwindi.
Two under control fires are currently burning in southern Queensland, one at Biarra and another north of Laidley.
Queensland Fire and Rescue Service has also extended the fire bans in the local government areas of Rockhampton, Banana, Gladstone, Bundaberg, North Burnett, Fraser Coast, Cherbourg and Gympie.
Fire bans will remain in place for these areas until December 14.
