THERE were delays to Tiger Airways flights yesterday, including more than a 10-hour wait for passengers travelling to Rockhampton.
The disruptions to the flights were due to an aircraft requiring an engineer’s assessment in Alice Springs.
Tiger Airways consumer communications manager Vanessa Regan said engineers assessed the aircraft and it would be operational to resume normal services today.
Ms Regan said safety of staff and passengers underpinned Tiger Airways operation at all times.
“As a knock-on effect of having that aircraft out of service, some flights in and out of Melbourne were delayed, including a Melbourne – Rockhampton rotation,” she said.
The Rockhampton flight was due to get into the city about 1pm yesterday, but it was delayed until 11 o’clock last night.
“All airlines experience disruptions from time to time and Tiger Airways works hard to keep them to a minimum,” Ms Regan said.
The company apologised for any inconveniences the flight delays to passengers.
Ms Regan said Tiger worked hard to inform all affected passengers of the situation and to offer them a range of options to minimise any inconvenience and move them to their destination as soon as possible.
Provisions offered to affected passengers included meal vouchers, a free-of-charge transfer to another Tiger Airways flight of their choice, refund, or a credit to fly with Tiger Airways at some other time.
