RECENT tsunami warnings keep water and flood damage top of mind on Queensland’s coast, while unpredictable storms and floods again threaten the interior.

ANIMALS are an important part of people’s flood preparations, the RSPCA’s Shayne Towers Hammond said yesterday.

Mr Towers Hammond, the RSPCA Queensland Senior Regional Inspector, said animals being stranded by floodwaters was a big concern and he was reminding people to check on their animals, especially livestock on low-lying properties.

An RSPCA boat was being arranged from Brisbane to allow for fodder drops to stranded animals, which he anticipated would start today.

“We will be focusing on the Yeppen area for now, and then anticipating anything that might occur,” Mr Towers Hammond said.
