It’s a taste of autumn and a sneak preview of what’s to come in winter fashion this season, ladies.

Laurena Heyes, owner of Rockhampton fashion boutique She’s All That, said the focus of autumn-winter 2010 would be solid colours mixed with textured fabrics, and ankle boots would be among the “in” items this winter.

Laurena said that while there was a lot of black coming in, ruby-red would be big and classic gloves would be the must-have accessory for all fashionistas.

“Layers are still very fashionable.

“Adding simple long vests and a light long sleeve can transform you from summer to autumn,” Laurena said.

And say goodbye to maxi dresses this season.

Accessories are a must-have: light scarves, bright bags and anything with studs and embellishments.

And even though we didn’t have weather as cool as in the south, Laurena said, you could still achieve the look with lighter knitted fabrics to suit our climate.

“Leather is also big in black, tan and brown this season and short minis are still the rage, combined with opaque tights, light coats or a long sleeve,” Laurena said.

Laurena said autumn fashions also incorporated a bit of frill for the girly girls.

“Another hot trend is ruffled long vests that can be thrown over tights and a cute oversized top,” she said.
