'Dangerous' driver leaves 3 injured

A STOLEN vehicle being driven "dangerously" left three people injured and two vehicles badly damaged in Rockhampton last night.

Police this morning released a statement on the incident.

It said a 48-year-old man was injured as he tried to stop his car from being stolen in a car park at Ross Street and Gladstone Road about 11pm.

The owner grabbed hold of his vehicle and was dragged a short distance before falling on the roadway.

He was later treated at Rockhampton Hospital for leg injuries and chest pain.

Witnesses followed the stolen vehicle and tried to approach the driver when the car stopped to make a U-turn in Ann Street.

The vehicle drove past the witnesses hitting the arm of a 20-year old Frenchville man.

The stolen utility then collided with the rear of a parked car a short distance away.

It was there that witnesses detained the driver until police arrived.

Paramedics attended and transported a 16-year-old boy to hospital with facial injuries.

Two Maltese-cross dogs were in the vehicle when it was stolen.

One has been returned to the owner but a long-haired, white Maltese female, which answers to Phoebie, ran away after the car crashed.

Anyone with information which may help police should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
