No punishment for Glenda Mather

COUNCILLOR Glenda Mather has escaped punishment for an alleged breach of the councillors' code of conduct.

COUNCILLOR Glenda Mather has escaped punishment for an alleged breach of the councillors’ code of conduct during her campaign against a home for convicted serious sex offenders near Rockhampton’s jail.

After a complaint by the Department of Correctional Services and an investigation by the Crime and Misconduct Commission, the campaigning councillor has been issued with a letter of reprimand by Rockhampton Regional Council.

The council received an official complaint from the Capricornia Correctional Centre after Cr Mather was seen taking photographs of the house under construction on the prison estate.

Last month the CMC said it proposed to take no action against Cr Mather, who had led a protest against plans to build a facility for pedophiles and others who had been jailed for violent sexual offenders and released on licence.

This week the matter was laid to rest when the council confirmed it had issued a letter of reprimand for a minor breach of the councillors’ code of conduct. No further action would be taken, it said.

Had the pleasure to meet both Glenda Mather & Steven Schwarten, whilst they & other councilors were surveying the carnage at Wreck Point Lookout. They all carried themselves extremely well.

The Rockhampton City Council has since been working all week, erecting new safety barriers along Matthew Flinders Drive. To help protect the public from themselves, or any one else in the vicinity.

Maybe they should be giving Councilor Glenda Mather a commendation, rather than a slap on the wrist?

All show this story and her campaign..

Outside homes and units have been at that centre almost since the original prison was built years ago...

there is absolutely nothing new about this.

you have to take a more positive attitude towards anyone in custody no matter what their history.........as most will be let out at some point..

take a broard view not a narrow mined view as this woman has done to win votes!

if she expects any prisoner including sex offenders, murderers, robbers etc to do their full time inside the prison then be released then its obvious the woman has absolutely no idea......this is when issues start and often reoffending occurs...straight out of inside a prison and into the community is fraught with danger...prisons are way different to being in the community..

stick to working on fixing potholes lady and let corrective staff run the prisons..

i sure dont rate you but obviously you rate yourself above the law.....tread carefully now cause you never know when you may step on the wrong toes higher up the pecking order.

As for a comendation! pffft! your kidding really!

Shes milking the gravey train to be elected again........

One would think that the prisoners from all over the state sent to Capricornia Correctional Centre, would be more than happy to stay put, in a pleasant rural setting. But no, some like to go for wander now & again.

Guess if they are housed separately in a comfortable homelike environment, then they will be happy to stay put, "Equarights" .

So the residents in that electorate & further reaches will have nothing to fear, regarding their wives & children then.

What is this CMC investigation number 3 or 4 relating to this councillor?

This councillor is a loose cannon. Are all our councillors investigated as often??
