Rain won't spoil Brodie's fun

BRODIE Forward, 7, had the he skate ramp off Huish Drive on Rockhampton's south side all to himself as the skies opened yesterday.

Brodie Forward didn’t let a little rain spoil his fun at the skate park yesterday.

Allan Reinikka AR--

FOR young Brodie Forward yesterday’s heavy rain in Rockhampton provided a unique opportunity.

The seven-year-old took advantage of the conditions to scoot about the skate ramp off Huish Drive on the city’s south side.

Apart from his dad watching on, he had the place all to himself as the skies opened.

Rockhampton recorded 64.6mm rainfall in the period from 9am Saturday to 6pm yesterday.

The Bureau of Meteorology yesterday issued a new flood warning for the Fitzroy River.

Moderate flooding was expected downstream in the Connors River at Pink Lagoon and in the Isaac River at Yatton during this week.

With much of Central Queensland already sodden after a wet couple of months, a weather forecaster said it wasn’t clear just how much more rain would be needed for the Fitzroy River to flood at Rockhampton.

“Up until now, it’s not a problem for Rockhampton as the rainfall so far would result in less than minor flooding ... below the levels in the city earlier this month,” the forecaster said.

“However, it’s still raining and certainly if there was to be a lot more rain in the next 24 hours that would have an affect.”

The weather outlook is for rain and shower areas across the Rockhampton district today.
