Delizie co-owner John Cornwell is excited for a new challenge in their new premises at the Pilbeam Theatre complex.
IT’S good fresh food put together in a different way.
A little delight, says owner John Cornwell.
The concept remains the same, but you’ll now find Delizie at a new location.
The unique Rockhampton café which was once hidden above Stewarts Department Store can now be found at The Pilbeam Theatre complex.
For John Cornwell the move was all about giving himself and business partner Gianni De Luca a new challenge.
“We were at the other location for four years, but like any business we needed to refuel,” he said yesterday.
“Especially for our regular folk that come here once a week. We needed something fresh from them, so we decided it was time to move on.”
Not only will Delizie continue the lunch time menu and its famous high tea afternoons but coming soon is a dinner a la carte menu.
Its high teas have been such a big hit that at times there is almost a three-month waiting list for a sitting.
Mr Cornwell said the thing that makes Delizie different was they offered something that no-one else did.
Even the décor, designed by local Gina Barrett, is unique.
“We make all our own cakes, we don’t serve bread and we don’t deep fry. Our food is not Italian, just a good European mix,” he said.
“It’s a home to good fresh food put together in a different way.
“And now we’ve decided to step up our game.
“We’ve always been about offering something different.”
Delizie’s motto is “concept, philosophy and destination” and when translated to Italian the name means “little delight” or “delicious”.
Delizie opens for lunch on Thursday and Fridays, dinner on Friday and Saturday and high tea on Sunday afternoon.
