Vintage Bettie opens its doors

IT'S got micro minis from the 60s, classic Hollywood looks, inspiration from the legendary pin-up bad girl Bettie Page and genuine pre-loved vintage one-offs.

And for Rockhampton's Lisa Jack, who adores everything old, it's all about living and sharing the fashion and culture from her dream eras.

Vintage Bettie, named after Lisa's favourite pin-up girl from the past, opened in Rockhampton last week.

Lisa isn't only sharing vintage fashion, including garments from America, but she's created a whole culture from the past with famous music right through to an original collection of vintage hats.

“It is an ageless era, very stylish and feminine,” Lisa said.

Lisa, who used to own Vintage Fashion and Whatever in Rockhampton, said she was inspired to open a pure vintage store with styles from the 40s right up to the 80s.

“It's a whole lifestyle for me and it's bringing the culture into Rockhampton,” Lisa said.

Another big look Lisa has incorporated in her fashions is the Rockabilly girls Rockabilly that are all about a sexy sweetness that reminds you of childhood innocence with hip, sexy clothing.

Lisa said when marketing for her store (on Archer Street), it was important to incorporate styles for petite women right through to those that have the more voluptuous look.

“I have tried to look for clothes to suit every body shape and from different genres, cultures and age groups.”

Lisa, who is a 66 baby, also has a stunning collection of heels, including the famous Mary Jane style and sweet patent polka-dot designs.

There is a collection of cat eye sunglasses and Lisa will be getting in swimwear from the 60s and fish-net hats from the 40s.

“I will freshen up the wardrobe at least once a month,” Lisa said.

Model Rachael Ireland, 22, last week had her first taste of Vintage Bettie and it was love at first sight.

“It's gorgeous and really funky. It's fashion you don't see often and it's so easy to mix and match,” Rachael said.

Rachael tried out a feminine pink frock with black polka-dots, a classic high-waisted look inspired from the 50s and a punk glam look (pictured).

“I love this outfit (pictured left), it's so comfy and it looks hot teamed up with a pair of heels to dress it up,” Rachael said.
